
Chun and Qiu Period (770 B.C. - 476 B.C.).
Beginning in the 8th century B.C, local strongmen, originally appointed as representatives of the Chou kings, began to arrogate to themselves the powers and titles of the royal court. The Chou state waited too long to try 10 counter this and found its power slipping away as new ” hegemonic” arose in various parts of the empire. Small states proliferated and fought among themselves, ushering in a centuries-long age of warfare and chronic social and economic instability.
Chun and Qiu Period is the first time nationwide to split period of Chinese history. In this period, each kingdom annex the other small countries one after another. By the last years of Chun and Qiu Period, most small countries have already withdrawn from the historical stage gradually, were substituted with Qin, Chu, Yan, Han, Zhao and Wei Kingdom. So, the times come to an end in China’s history, the following one is that another period — The Warring States Period.
