Indochina holidays bring a rewarding experience with a range of beautiful scenery, diverse culture and super-friendly people. Indochina is made up of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Each country is unique in flavour and can satisfy even the most experienced of travellers.
If you are thinking about an Indochina holiday be sure to include the following places in your itinerary.
Vietnam - The Mekong Delta
The Mekong Delta can be found in the South West region of Vietnam and stretches across 39,000 square Kilometres. Most, if not all transport is via water taxies and boats, so be sure to check out the rice paddies and local markets which have an incredible range of exotic fruits and vegetables.
Cambodia - Angkor Wat
Located in city of Angkor, you will be amazed at the beauty and complexity of the Angkor Wat temples. These were constructed during the 12th Century for the purpose of a state temple and capital city. For those interested in ancient history and architecture, this is a truly spiritual place to visit!
Laos - Luang Prabang
Voted the New York Times Number 1 place to visit during 2008, Luang Prabang is a feast of Indochinese architecture, palm lined river banks and saffron robed monks. Once the capital city of Laos and considered by many to be the religious heart of the country, Luang Prabang is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
During April, Luang Prabang bursts with life during Pimai Lao, Laos’ New Year. Water based celebrations are extremely common amongst locals seeming more than happy to throw water over each other, young and old! If you’re planning on visiting at that time of the year, be sure to book your Indochina tours well in advance to avoid disappointment!
